Teague Caught Hiding Truth About Healthcare/Bailout Record & Teague Welcomes Obama

Harry Teague is at it again. Knowing his liberal voting record on helping to pass Obamacare, and his own actions with the employees of his companies, won’t win him any votes, Harry has taken to lying in order to save his own job.

In a recent article/interview with the Cibola Beacon, Teague did the “Teague Two-Step” with the paper’s editorial board on his record on Obamacare and the bailouts. “Teague believes that everyone should have health insurance. As a young man, Teague had to quit high school because both his parents got sick at the same time and the family wasn’t insured. Later, after building a business, he worked to provide all of his employees with health insurance and educational benefits. Teague voted against the health insurance reform bill because he felt it didn’t do enough to reduce costs or take on the big insurance companies.”

Yet, what Teague doesn’t mention is how he eliminated all healthcare coverage for all of his employees while TAKING A $3 MILLION DOLLAR PERSONAL BONUS AT THE SAME TIME (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0510/36986.html). Teague also failed to tell the truth about his voting FIVE TIMES to advance socialized healthcare though he voted against it on the final vote to give himself political cover back in New Mexico (Roll Call Votes 159, 160, 162, 163, 165 on March 21, 2010 to HR 4872. thomas.loc.gov).

The Cibola Beacon’s article/interview also details what Harry Teague considers to be ‘helping the economy’. The following was reported:

“Since being in Washington, Teague has focused on rebuilding southern New Mexico’s economy and he believes a way to do it is to grow the local economy by putting state residents back to work. The new Nimitz Bridge is a project that was made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act which Teague has supported. He has also been a big supporter of the Red Mesa wind farm near Seboyeta.”

WOW. Harry Teague has voted FOR EVERY STIMULUS BILL, EVERY BAILOUT AND EVERY BIG GOVERNMENT TAKEOVER that Pelosi and Obama have put in front of him. What have we gotten for it? $862 BILLION dollars in debt and no REAL jobs. No REAL private sector capital gains or development. Wasn’t the summer of 2010 supposed to be the summer of recovery? Apparently, to Harry Teague, we are on the ‘right track’. Yet, Harry Teague continues to oppose limiting the size and power of government, repealing job-killing regulations and lowering taxes on working New Mexicans which is what really creates jobs.

So, why is Harry Teague not being honest about his true voting record as a member of Nancy Pelosi’s left-wing majority? Because he knows that if he is honest then he will not be re-elected. Which begs the next question….why does Harry Teague feel the need to hide how he votes?

Teague And Defenders Of Wildlife: Both Bad For New Mexico & Border Security

Harry Teague has some rabid allies be they corrupt Congressman Charlie Rangel, union bosses and etc. But, none comes as rabid as the Defenders of Wildlife.

1. Defenders of Wildlife has come out continuously against allowing drilling in ANWR so as to stop the United States from becoming free of foreign oil;

2. Defenders of Wildlife has been a staunch defender of the Endangered Species Act which has allowed the federal government to confiscate private farms/property due to the discovery of such things as the ‘kangaroo rat’;

3. Defenders of Wildlife also openly support the Wildlands Project, which is an initiative that seeks to ‘remove all signs of human existence from fully one-fourth of America’s land mass. This would explain Teague’s support of efforts in Congress to make the Otero Mesa a ‘national monument’ and making the Organ Mountains in Dona Ana County a ‘protected wilderness area’ where even border patrol can’t go;

4. Defenders of Wildlife has consistently opposed logging, ranching, mining and even the use of recreational vehicles as being ‘bad for the environment’;

5. DEFENDERS OF WILDLIFE EVEN OPPOSES THE USE OF MOTOR VEHICLES BY THE U.S. BORDER PATROL ALONG OUR BORDER WITH MEXICO. Defenders of Wildlife Executive Vice President Jamie Rappaport Clark stated conspiratorially, “The Border Patrol’s blanket requests for unlimited motorized access to protected parks, monuments and wilderness areas are being made behind closed doors…”;

6. Defenders of Wildlife even oppose the Department of Homeland Security’s efforts to finish construction of security fences and round-the-clock high intensity lighting on the Arizona-Mexican border.  The Defenders of Wildlife put the security of American citizens at risk from border criminal elements because they pushed that such barriers “would have ended any hope for further cross-border movement by jaguars, ocelots and a host of other border animal species”;

7. Defenders of Wildlife put American military preparedness at risk. In 2003, Defenders of Wildlife condemned the Department of Defense for seeking exemption from restrictive environmental regulations that hindered training for the War on Terror. Defenders of Wildlife were joined in their effort to stop military training for the War on Terror by such groups as Earthjustice, the Endangered Species coalition and Natural Resources Defense Council;

8. Defenders of Wildlife is a member of the Save Our Environment Action Center (SOEAC) which is a coalition made up of very radical organizations such as Earthjustice, Friends of the Earth, Sierra Club and World Wildlife Fund;

9.  Defenders of Wildlife have been ardent supporters of re-introducing wolves into New Mexico putting ranchers and children in rural areas at risk;

10. Defenders of Wildlife have supported Cap & Trade legislation increasing taxes and big government authority over the lives of every American;

The Defenders of Wildlife is a radical, anti-freedom organization bent on using big government, higher taxes and oppressive laws to hurt New Mexico’s farmers, ranchers, border patrol agents, energy companies, small business owners and New Mexico’s working families. 

Then it comes as no surprise that Harry Teague is there hero. He supports Cap & Trade. He has done nothing to stop the wolf re-introduction program. He has done nothing to stop the feds from declaring the Otero Mesas as a national monument. He has done nothing to stop efforts to make the Organ Mountains a ‘wilderness area’. He has done nothing to reform the endangered species act to protect farmers, ranchers and other private property owners. 

No wonder then that the Defenders of Wildlife have recently spent thousands on TV ads attacking Teague’s opponent.

A man is judged by the company he keeps. We can’t afford Harry Teague, or his radical friends, for two more years.

Teague Votes For THIRD Bailout/Tax Hike & Teague Allies Caught In Lie

 

Harry has done it not once, not twice but three times now! That’s right, Harry has officially voted for his THIRD bailout bill. Harry voted in FAVOR of HR 1586, the so-called ‘State Bailout’, yesterday which shells out another $26.1 BILLION dollars.

What does HR 1586 fund? It pays public union bosses, raises taxes on business and rewards spend happy states. According to Obama, Pelosi and Teague, this new bailout is going to ‘protect teachers, firemen and policemen’ from being laid off. Nothing could be further from the truth. 1. FEDERAL HIJACKING OF STATE BUDGETS – This new bailout stipulates that federal funds must be used to supplement, not replace, states spending on public education. It goes further in that it mandates that what each state spends on education must match or be greater than what that state spent on education the previous year. THIS BILL IS MANDATING WHAT A STATE SPENDS ON EDUCATION! IT’S FORCING A SPENDING INCREASE! In fact, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour was quoted in today’s Wall Street Journal stating that this new bailout bill will force his state to rewrite their current budget for fiscal year 2011 and increase funding thereby destroying their already balanced budget;

2. PUNISHMENT OF FISCALLY SOUND STATES – The state of Texas is specifically targeted because it refused to spend all of the stimulus money the feds tried to force down their throat. In fact, the funding rule of this new bailout goes until the year 2012 for Texas ONLY. Why? To force Texas to increase government spending and become reliant on federal stimulus money and stipulations. This past Friday, 22 GOP Texas Congressmen sent Speaker Nancy Pelosi a letter in which they informed her that, “This provision (i.e. funding rule) would have Texas violate her own State Constitution. The Texas Legislature has sole authority to determine State appropriations. Moreover, one Legislature cannot bind a future Legislature. Requiring the State to assure that a future Texas Legislature would commit to spend funds in accordance with these provisions would violate the Texas Constitution.” Texas Governor Rick Perry has come out adamantly opposed to the anti-Texas rule by saying that it would break the budget of Texas. Looks as if the left-wing machine in Washington hates that Texas has learned to live within their means and that it is the most business friendly and recession proof state in the nation currently because of it;

3. PAYOFF TO UNION BOSSES - Though this bailout is being defended as a way to ‘avoid laying off teachers and policemen’ nothing could be further from the truth. The National Education Association (NEA), the nation’s largest teachers union, received $355,334,165 in union dues in 2009. Was this money used to help students or increase the quality of education? No. In fact, in 2009, the NEA spent $11 million MORE THAN IT TOOK IN! Exactly $50 MILLION of that was spent on political and lobbying activities. This bailout bill essentially redistributes about $36 million in taxpayer dollars to the NEA and another $14 million to the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union.  What about the teacher layoffs? Well, according to research done by Eric Hanushek of Stanford University, student enrollment in American public schools grew by 22% between 1990 and 2007. However, teacher employment grew by 41% in the same time period. Thus, this bailout prevents already bloated unions from sharing their part of the sacrifice. Plus, the union bosses refuse to work to help reach common sense solutions to education budget problems. In Milwaukee this year the teacher union bosses were given a choice. They could stand by as about 500 teachers were laid off or they could of agreed to having their members change to a less expensive health care plan and avoid any layoffs. The union bosses actually choose to sacrifice 500 of their own than seek a common sense compromise that didn’t even call for salary reductions. Now, these same union bosses are getting your tax dollars to stay in power;

4.  NEW TAX HIKES ON BUSINESS – In order to pay for part of this new bailout when it comes to Medicaid, the left-wing majority in Congress pushed through a tax hike on companies that do business overseas. These tax hikes were implemented to fund a 6 month appropriations gap in Medicaid funding. So, we are going to implement about 10 years of new taxes against American business, which prevents job creation and economic recovery, to fix only 6 months worth of missing Medicaid funding. Absolute lunacy;

Once again, Harry Teague voted in FAVOR of more big government. Once again, Harry Teague voted in FAVOR of more forced state mandates. Once again, Harry Teague voted in FAVOR of higher taxes. Once again, Harry Teague voted in FAVOR for more payoffs to union bosses. Once again, Harry Teague voted in FAVOR of the Pelosi/Obama agenda.

We can NOT AFFORD two more years of Harry Teague as our Congressman.

Harry Teague’s radical, left-wing allies, Defenders of Wildlife, attempted to attack Teague’s GOP opponent, Steve Pearce, citing an old ethics accusation. Problem was that the alleged ethics violation against Pearce was found to be false by the House Ethics Committee (which is half GOP and half Democrat) and the very organization that accused Pearce, Center for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) admitted in writing that their investigation was botched (http://www.crewsmostcorrupt.org/node/536). CREW is a liberal biased organization that is run by several former Democratic congressional aides and left-wing policy group staffers (http://www.citizensforethics.org/about/staff).

Of course, no word from Teague’s camp condemning Defenders of Wildlife. How shocking.

It’s important to note that Defenders of Wildlife is a large donor to Teague’s campaigns (www.opensecrets.org) and that they helped push Teague to vote in favor of Cap & Trade (TAX) legislation in 2009.

Teague, Rangel, Frank & Dodd Sitting In A Tree…

 

Ultra leftist New York Congressman, Charlie Rangel, is under ethics investigation right now by Congress for violating House ethics rules. It has also come to light that Congressman Rangel, who represents Harlem, has failed to pay his income taxes in the past.

Who is one of Harry Teague’s biggest congressional donors, besides Nancy Pelosi? You guessed it….Charlie Rangel! Rangel has given Teague $4,500 since 2008 (http://www.abqjournal.com/news/washington/05233831068newsmetro03-05-10.htm).

Harry Teague voted, yet again, for more spending and more big government regulations via the Frank – Dodd bill on June 30th. Teague had voted against the Frank – Dodd bill back in December of 2009 but decided to support it this year. So, now he can say that he ‘voted against it before he voted for it’. John Kerry would be proud.

So what does the Frank – Dodd bill do to American business and job creators? Let’s take a look: (thomas.loc.gov, www.heritage.org)

1. COST & BANK TAX - The Congressional Budget Office (OBO) has put the price tag of Frank – Dodd at $19 BILLION over a ten year span. In order to ‘pay’ for this new $19 BILLION the leftist majority in Congress cancelled the TARP program early. This, in theory, funded $11 billion of the $19 billion needed. Here’s the catch, the government wasn’t going to spend that $11 billion anyway. There were no new TARP loans scheduled! Basically, the radical left majority in Congress, of which Teague is a member, has changed TARP to be a new slush fund for other programs. THAT’S NOT ALL! To help pay for the rest of the $19 billion to fund Frank – Dodd, Congress increased FDIC assessments that hurt both large and small banks. Basically, a new BANK TAX;  

2. NEW BANK REGULATIONS VIA VOLCKER RULE - The ‘Volcker Rule’ is the rule curbs proprietary trading by federally approved regulators. Frank – Dodd gives these federal regulators wide interpretation over what constitutes proprietary trading. Basically, this bill gives federal bureaucrats and regulators more un-checked power over banks. Who pays? Consumers;

3. BAIL OUT LOOPHOLES - Though the FDIC’s authority to bail out failed financial institutions was weakened the bill still has many loopholes. For example, the FDIC retains the power to take and re-structure the assets of private companies that favor the politically connected at the expense of creditors. Frank – Dodd also retains the power the Federal Reserve has to extend bail out credit to struggling financial entities;

4. MORE JOB KILLING REGULATIONS - FRANK – DODD creates the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The CFPB has been given new powers to impose new government regulations on business such as credit limits and etc. The CFPB is a new bureaucracy with very limited oversight which is always bad for business and job creation; 

5. INCREASES POWER OF UNION BOSSES – New rules over how corporations are governed in Frank – Dodd will only increase the power of the union bosses. Such unions as the AFL-CIO and SEIU are already organizing to gain influence to control corporations from the inside;

6. NO REFORM OF FANNIE & FREDDIE – Not anywhere in Frank – Dodd is reform of FANNIE AND FREDDIE addressed. Fannie and Freddie, the two entities most responsible for the housing collapse, are given a free pass in Frank – Dodd;

Once again, Harry Teague votes to expand big government power and regulation over private business and private citizens.

Unemployment is higher. Business expansion is down. The size of big, bloated government keeps growing.

We can’t afford two more years of Harry Teague.

Harry Profits While His Employees Suffer & Harry’s Jobs Hypocrisy Exposed!

Harry Teague continues to argue that he represents working New Mexicans. When he was campaigning in 2008, Teague mentioned several times, and in his ads, what all he had done for his employees and that he was a businessman so he wouldn’t be a ‘liberal’. Yet, as this blog as shown for months, Harry’s record speaks for itself. Not only his voting record as a congressman but also his record as a business owner and employer here in New Mexico.

Harry Teague took a $3.3 million bonus while his companies cut healthcare coverage for all 25o employees. We thought Harry was ‘fighting for working New Mexicans’? Guess not. (http://clerk.house.gov/public_disc/financial-search.html and http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0610/39252.html)

Harry Teague, ‘champion of working New Mexicans’, decided to let all 25o of his employees, the same ones he put in his ads showing as an example of how good of a guy he was, go without healthcare while taking a $3.3 million dollar bonus. Did Harry give part of that $3.3 million bonus back so he could save his employee’s healthcare plans? Nope. 

Harry Teague….left-wing hypocrisy at its finest.  

Recently, Harry Teague’s office has come out showing how Harry Teague is helping ‘put New Mexicans back to work’. Bunk.

1. Harry voted FOR HR 12, 1-9-2009, “Paycheck Protection Act”. Makes it easier for frivolous lawsuits against businesses;

2. Harry voted FOR HR 1, 2-13-2009, ’Stimulus Bill’, which has created fake, taxpayer funded jobs which will vanish once the stimulus funding runs out;

3. Harry voted FOR HR 1105, 2-25-2009, Omnibus Spending Bill, which increased the size of government, increased regulations on business and increased the amount of federal spending to new deficit levels; 

4. Harry Voted AGAINST H Amdt 29 to HR 1262, 3-12-2009, which was an amendment that sought to remove all Davis-Bacon prevailing wage provisions for the union bosses against small businesses; 

5. Harry voted FOR HR 2454, 6-26-2009, which passed Cap & Trade which would kill energy jobs in New Mexico; 

6. Harry voted FOR HR 3435, 7-31-2009, the infamous Cash for Clunkers program;

7. Harry voted FIVE TIMES IN FAVOR of H RES 1203, 3-21-2010, to push it close to final passage even though he got ‘cover’ from Pelosi to oppose it on the final vote; 

8. Harry voted FOR HR 3961, 11-19-2009, which passed the so-called ‘Doctor Fix’ that puts government into the offices of doctors; 

9. Harry voted FOR HR 4154, 12-3-2009, which killed a move to allow a motion to repeal the Death Tax which hurts New Mexico family farmers;

10. Harry voted FOR HR 5175, 6-24-2010, the so-called DISCLOSE Act which exempts the union bosses to spend lavishly in elections but greatly restricts political activity by small business owners, business organizations and etc;

11. Harry voted FOR HR 4173, 6-30-2010, the Frank – Dodd Financial Regulation Bill which puts new job killing regulations on American business. Harry voted against it the first time but he had no problem voting for it when it got out of conference committee;

We at Teague Watch have also already documented how union bosses are his largest PAC supporters and how he is also supported by other job killing special interests like trial lawyers.

You would think that as a businessman Harry Teague would no better. But, sadly, it’s apparent in Harry’s world that radical, left-wing ideology trumps common sense.

Why is it that you say one thing and vote the opposite?

In this instance you are saying that you are trying to bring jobs to New Mexico, but you voted for the Cap and Trade Tax bill that will eliminate 167,000 jobs in New Mexico, with the oil and gas industry losing the most jobs.

In other instances of your double-speak, consider the following –

You complain about greedy profit and are one of the wealthiest members of congress.

You attack executives for taking million dollar bonuses but gave yourself a $3.3 million bonus from your own company.

You attack companies that drive up the cost of health care but you cancelled the health insurance for your companies after giving yourself the $3.3 million bonus… then said your companies did not have enough money to pay the insurance.

Less than 10% of that $3.3 million bonus would have paid the health insurance for 2 years.

You attack special interests but get well over half your money from unions, Washington PACs and trial lawyers outside New Mexico.

You attack special interests but acknowledge that for your vote on cap and trade you worked a special interest deal with speaker Nancy Pelosi in exchange for that vote.

You maintain that you voted against Obamacare, but why did you vote FOR it in the five preliminary votes leading up to the final vote?

If your vote AGAINST Obamacare was honest, where is your signature on Rep. Steve King’s HR 4972 that would repeal Obamacare?

Trial Lawyers Love Teague

Ah yes, the trial lawyers love Harry Teague. So, far the trial lawyer lobby, the so-called American Association for Justice, has given Harry $10,000 in campaign contributions (www.opensecrets.org).

Why does this matter? It matters if you want to see businesses, both large and small, grow and create jobs. It matters if you don’t like to see good doctors run out of New Mexico due to frivolous lawsuits.

Let’s take a look at Harry Teague’s friends in the American Association for Justice. (source: www.discoverthenetworks.org)

1. The American Association for Justice is a trial lawyer lobby that supports no tort reform or caps on frivolous lawsuits against small business, doctors and etc;

2. The American Association for Justice is a member organization of ‘Working For Us’ which is a committee of organizations who seek to keep the Democratic Party under left-wing control. Working For Us was created in 2007 by Andrew Stern, the ultra left-wing former head of the Service Employees International Union. They are committed to holding “Democrats electorally accountable on economic and community security issues and to elect lawmakers who support a PROGRESSIVE political agenda”. The executive director of Working For Us is Steve Rosenthal who is co-founder of America Coming Together which is one of George Soros’s affiliated get-out-the-vote groups;

3. The American Association for Justice has lead the effort AGAINST medical malpractice lawsuit reform. Their own website states that medical malpractice lawsuits “…lead to safer drugs and a health care system that’s accountable to the people”. http://www.atla.org/pressroom/FACTS/health/index.aspx;

4. The American Association for Justice has an anti-business/anti-jobs agenda and has repeatedly pushed for higher taxes and more big government regulations on drug makers, oil companies, small businesses, toy makers and etc. According to Forbes magazine, frivolous lawsuits cost American businesses $200 BILLION per year; 

5. The American Association for Justice has helped push a radical, left-wing agenda in Congress including fighting for Obamacare;

6. In 1986, the American Association for Justice established the Civil Justice Foundation which awards grants to so-called ‘grassroots’ consumer advocacy groups. The CJF has given over $1 million to over 100 organizations that use frivolous lawsuits to force stricter government regulations;

7.  The American Association of Justice has a PAC that gives out millions in campaign contributions to the most radical leftists in Congress. Many of their beneficiaries are members of the openly socialist Progressive Caucus;

You can judge a man by the company he keeps. We here at Teague Watch have already shown his connections to the union bosses, Speaker Pelosi, the Progressive Caucus and etc. Now we are adding the left-wing trial lawyers. Harry’s friends just seem to keep getting worse and worse for New Mexico.

Harry Teague’s Union Boss Masters

 

Harry Teague owes the big liberal union bosses. He owes them a lot. Harry said it himself! Harry is quoted at the following AFLCIO union site, http://blog.aflcio.org/2008/10/24/trumka-rallies-leaflets-with-union-members-in-new-mexico/, stating the following at a NM union gathering:

“Union folks are the reason that Obama, Udall, Lujan, Heinrich and myself are going to win in November. Working families need change, and we are going to give it to you.”

Union organizers and activists were imperative in helping Harry use the Obama wave to win the usually conservative 2nd congressional district of New Mexico.

Once in Congress, Harry wasted no time in supporting the agenda of the union bosses. As we noted in a previous blog, Harry is a co-sponsor of the so-called ‘Employee Free Choice Act’ which actually takes away the secret ballot of union members and makes it easier for businesses to be unionized against their wills. Plus, Harry’s support of stimulus bills and etc that have pro-union provisions.

NEW TEAGUE SCANDAL! Harry Hit With $2.7 Million Dollar Lawsuit

 

Harry Teague, one of the exclusive club of millionaires in Congress, was just hit with a $2.7 million dollar lawsuit for failure to repay loans on equipment purchases according to an article from Politico.com. According to the article, the lawsuit was filed on June 14th in New Mexico on behalf of SunTrust Equipment Finance & Leasing Corporation which is a division of SunTrust Banks out of Maryland. Teague’s four companies, Eunice Well Servicing, ABC Rental, Teaco Drilling and Teaco Energy Services were all named in the lawsuit. 

According to the article SunTrust Equipment alleges that Teague’s four companies failed to pay off loans issued in mid-2006 and that SunTrust is seeking repossession of the equipment, full repayment of the loans and damages, including attorneys’ fees.

 Teague, when asked about the lawsuit, claimed that he was ’not aware that it had been filed’.

 This lawsuit comes after the last Teague scandal in which Harry cut all health insurance coverage for all of the 250 employees of his four companies and that he was still invested in those four companies at the time even though he claimed, after being elected, that he was going to divest himself from them. In fact, in his last financial disclosure form, Teague and his wife each earned $120,000 in 2009.

More left-wing hypocrisy.

Teague Ignores Military And Votes To Repeal ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’

Once again, Harry Teague’s true left-wing colors are exposed.

Harry Teague voted recently to repeal the ban on homosexuals serving openly in the U.S. military. The roll call vote was 318 on Amendment 79, sponsored by Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-PA, to HR 5136.

Harry Teague gave his vote to Obama and Nancy Pelosi to push a radical, left-wing agenda without giving the military time to hear from the military’s rank and file.

But he said it would have been better for lawmakers to wait until the Pentagon completed its review of how to make the repeal work. That study, due in December, is based on a current survey of troops and their families.”

This is obviously an important issue to members of the military. The ‘Military Times’, the official newspaper of the U.S. military, released data of a poll it conducted of U.S. military personnel concerning their views on repealing ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ on December 29, 2008. The poll found that 58% of the current U.S. military personnel came out opposed to efforts to repeal the ’Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy

Harry Teague sacrificed military unit cohesion, military readiness and, most importantly, hearing the views of military personnel so he could help promote Obama and Pelosi’s radical, left-wing agenda.
